There is a direct correlation between housing inventories in any given town, and almost every other quality of life issues, from the quality of your education system, existing socio-economic conditions, quality healthcare and so much more. The NAACP advocates for policies that ensure fair housing for all including unconscionable rent increases, under and overdevelopment practices that results in massive gentrification, non-discriminatory lending, increased funding for housing counseling, and overall efforts to end housing discrimination. The Montclair NAACP Housing committee was not only instrumental in the passing of the first Rent Control Ordinance in the township but continues to monitor housing conditions in order to protect the basic rights of all Montclair residents to safe and affordable housing.
